About

One person. Based in Bismarck. End to end.

Capital City Sites is just me — Eli Miller. No project managers, no account reps, no offshore subcontractors. When you hire me, I'm the one who designs your site, builds it, hosts it, and answers when you call.

I started Capital City Sites because I kept watching solid local businesses get burned by web design. Slick agencies sell them a $5,000 site they can't update without paying again. National "platforms" lock them into endless monthly upgrades. The handyman cousin disappears halfway through. Meanwhile the business owner — who's good at running a restaurant or fixing furnaces, not configuring DNS records — is left with a half-finished site, a forgotten password, and a sour taste.

That's the gap I wanted to close. I build websites for the businesses that make Bismarck and Mandan what they are: family restaurants, plumbers, salons, mechanics, the corner shop that's been there longer than the strip mall around it. The kind of places where the owner's name is on the door.

The way I work is intentionally simple. We have a real conversation — usually in person, at a coffee shop or on your job site — about what your business actually does and the kind of customer you're trying to reach. Then I disappear for a few days and write your site by hand. Real HTML, real CSS, real care. No drag-and-drop builders, no bloated themes, no "premium plugins" that break six months later.

When it's done, you own it. Your domain is registered in your name. The code lives on a hosting account I manage so you don't have to think about it, but if you ever want to leave, I'll help you move. That's not a bug — it's how I think this should work. The best advertising I have is the work itself, and the kind of relationship where you'd recommend me to your neighbor.

I'm not the cheapest option. There are templates online for $19. I'm also not the fanciest — if you need a forty-person agency with a strategy deck, that's not what this is. But if you want a website that loads fast, looks like your business, and gets handled by one person who picks up the phone, that's exactly what I do.
